Generally many people are organized throughout their home, but when it comes to the closet in their bedroom, it can be an unorganized mess. As much as a person tries to keep it neat and tidy, it still ends up looking like a tornado hit it at the end of the week. Shirts and pants that started out neatly hung on rods end up being pushed to the other side of the closet only to end up wrinkled or half hanging off of the clothes hangers. The shoes that were once lined up in a neat row at the bottom of the closet are now in a jumbled pile and missing their mate. By adding organizational systems in a bedroom closet can help keep it organized without a lot of fuss.
Before having an organizational system installed, the first thing that should be done is to go through all of the contents from the closet. Take time to go through all of the clothing that you no longer wear and donate it to a charity. Seasonal clothing or special occasion clothing that is not worn on a daily basis should be moved to another place for long-term storage. By doing these two simple tasks will free up a lot of room in the closet and help to keep it clutter free.
Having hanging rods that are different heights throughout the closet is great idea for keeping work related clothing separate from casual clothing. This all saves time in the morning when looking for something to wear because each type of clothing is on its own rod and in its own section of the closet. Keeping the clothing spaced apart on the rod will reduce wrinkling when hung in the closet. Some also prefer to hang pants and shirts according to color in order to make getting dressed for work in the morning more efficient.
Adding shelving can be a wonderful way to stop shoes from getting mixed up and smashed at the bottom of a closet. By lining shoes up on shelves not only keeps the pairs together it also stops one from having to dig at the bottom of the closet to look for certain shoes to wear with an outfit. Sweaters also benefit from being folded on shelves rather then hung on hangers. This helps to stop sweaters from losing their shape and becoming stretched out. Another great tip is to organize them by color and style so they are easier to find.
Installing drawers and baskets are good for storing socks, hosiery, underwear and pajamas. By having these installed can add extra storage space in dressers and chest of drawers for summer or winter wardrobes that are not being used. Baskets and drawers in the closet will also allow easier accesses to clothing that is worn on a daily basis.
No matter if your closet is a walk-in or a basic reach in closet, taking the time to organize it can free up lots of space. Using shelves, drawers, baskets and rods can help to keep everything in its place, but will also save one time when getting dressed.
