Best Way to Cover a Skylight

Do you own a skylight in any of your rooms?  If you do, our guess is that the glass is not covered by any type of blind or shade?  Why would you put a blind or shade in if you put  in  a skylight to have ambiance and natural light coming in?  Skylights for the most part are left open. But what happens is that during the summer, the natural light just simply allows heat to come in and in many homes it just “bakes” the living heck out of the room.  The air conditioning is cranking and it sometimes quite honestly becomes unbearable.  A skylight blind or shade can be ordered to fit the window.  (more…)

Do you have a nice cold draft at this time of year with the window or windows in your office?  Or how about summer where heat just comes raging in and you cannot seem to cool it down with even the best air conditioning unit?  What does one do?

We always hear commercials from mattress companies who say  that you spend about a third of your life sleeping.  Well, what percent of your life is spent working?  I know you really don’t want to think about this because you will become violently ill.  But, in reality, many of work and by gosh, we better make sure it is as comfortable as possible.  The cold or hot air coming through windows in an office is a big part of being comfortable.

What is Truly a Window Curtain?

The word curtain has been around a very long time.  In fact, it is one of the most commonly used words by consumers when searching for the appropriate window treatment to cover a window or windows.  Consumers Google curtains more than any other word or words including window coverings.  So, what truly is a curtain?

Curtains  are often interchanged with the word drapery.  They are made from decorating fabric and there is a wide variety of styles of curtains as well as different kinds of material used.  The most common styles of curtains are pinch pleated and rod pocket draperies.  These can be purchased as a ready made panel in a packet or they can be custom made by a drapery company.  (more…)
