Decorating for the Holidays

Interior Design
Sunshine Drapery sliding glass doors window treatment

The harsh summer sun has finally given way and we are enjoying milder fall weather. Our focus is getting less and less on outdoor activities and more and more on ways to decorate for the holidays. Yes, it would be nice to create a totally different look with new furnishings, but few of us can do a complete overhaul seasonally. However, everyone can afford to make small changes that provide a big impact. New pillows can add a pop of color to an otherwise neutral living space and can be quickly switched out each season. Think about using golden yellow and vivid orange pillows to usher in Thanksgiving or traditional red and green ones for Christmas. If these colors will not complement your current color palette, choose deeper, richer tones within your existing decorating scheme. There are many ways to spruce up your dining and side tables. A beautiful sheer tablecloth can be made to overlay an existing “basic” cloth or you can create a new one out of our enormous selection of fabrics. For small dining areas, coordinate new placemats, napkins and seat cushions to add a seasonal punch at mealtime. In addition to decorative bed pillows, don’t forget to add new throws. A beautiful throw at the foot of the bed or in an adjacent chair is a cozy addition to any bedroom, but is especially inviting in your guest room. After all, the holidays are all about gathering the family together. Give them a welcoming place to stay or to reinvigorate themselves during the festivities.   These cooler months cause us to spend more time “cocooning” at home. We naturally seek to increase our home’s comfort, warmth and color and these small, affordable changes not only do that, they set the stage for a dazzling holiday season.
