As the heart and soul of the Sunshine Drapery workroom, Darlene has been leading the team with passion and skill for eight years. A true veteran of the craft, she has been a seamstress for over 40 years, getting her start at the age of five making clothes for her Barbie dolls. You'll never see her without a smile and a new, vibrant hair color that reflects her fun-loving personality. Darlene is also the team's go-to "machine whisperer," fixing any sewing machine that breaks down. While she loves every project that comes through the door, her true passion lies in upholstery. She jumps at the chance to create custom upholstered pieces for customers and even works on upholstery projects with her daughter, Leah, for friends and family in her free time.

 

Leila 

Leila is a cornerstone of the Sunshine Drapery team, having dedicated 22 years to her craft. Her love for sewing began at the age of 15 and has been a constant in her life ever since. Unlike others who specialize in specific projects, Leila finds joy in every piece she creates, approaching each new challenge with an open mind and steady hands. Her passion for sewing doesn't end when she clocks out; she continues to sew and scrapbook at home, finding immense satisfaction in the creative process. For Leila, sewing isn't just a job, it's a lifelong passion she gets to live out every single day.

Mo

For 33 years, Mo has been an indispensable part of the Sunshine Drapery team. She is a true drapery master, with an unparalleled expertise in every stage of the drapery process. Her hands are a blur of motion as she expertly cuts fabric with precision, sews perfectly straight side hems, and meticulously marks, tacks, and folds pleats. She brings decades of refined skill and knowledge to every project, ensuring that every drapery piece is a flawless work of art.

Leah

Leah's journey into the world of sewing was a family affair, having grown up in her mother Darlene's workroom since she was just six months old. She has been sewing ever since she could reach the foot pedal, making it a natural and deeply-rooted part of her life. While she appreciates how a machine can save fabric, she has a strong preference for the intricate detail and artistry of hand-sewing. Her true passion is upholstery, a skill she has honed into a popular hobby she shares with her mother and often posts about on social media. Leah looks forward to coming to work every day, not just to practice her craft, but to share her passion alongside her mother.
