More than a decade ago, Bernstein took over the ownership of Sunshine and its sister division , The Great Cover Up from the first and previous owner Les Finkelstein who started the business in 1969. “It was a perfect fit for me as I started with Sunshine in 1996 and over the years took on many roles until I was the President for three years prior to buying the business. It was a very smooth transition especially for the employees.
The complimentary in home appointment is the foundation of Sunshine’s business. It allows them to work one-on-one to help the client be at ease selecting window treatments without having an hourly charge. Sunshine has also expanded their commercial presence in the past ten years. In 1996, commercial was 5% of their total revenue. Today, it accounts for 25% of their total with a very large emphasis on senior living facility new construction and remodels.
