Advice from Sunshine Designer:
Sharon Elfrink
Designing window treatments for historic homes has always been my favorite projects. I've had the pleasure of touring and studying historic interior design all over the U.S., as well as Europe, through the years.I haved learned that to people who own old homes, they are like their children. Ownership of these homes carry high demands in terms of care and upkeep. When working with clients doing window treatments the most important consideration is how closely they want their decor to the historic integrity of their home. This can vary greatly! Overall I have found that most people do want to respect the historic integrity of the house yet blend that concept with the ease and variety of todays updated products and styles. With a knowledgable decorator this can be done more easily than one might think.
